February 23, 1943 – February 18, 2019

 

Alan  was born in Chicago and died at home in Marin with his wife Colleen by his side.   He suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for over 5 years, but his phenomenal sense of humor and loving heart stayed with him to the end.

He began his career in the wine & spirits industry with Seagrams’s then continued with Rathjen, Young’s Market, and Wine Warehouse.  Positions in Chicago, New York, and California included VP, but his favorite work was in sales and training where he could converse and make new friends while he mentored and inspired others.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor

he is survived by his wife Colleen; son Scott, (Jill); grandchildren Jared, Ethan, and Chase; brother Steve, (Sheri); and sister Jerri Meacham.

Alan enjoyed writing, acting, theater, and helping others.  He was a fun, generous, creative, and inspiring spirit who graciusly shared his talents, wisdom, heart, and whatever else he had that another might need.   The family requests donations be made in Alan J. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday,  March 30 at Servino Restauranté, 9 Main Street, Tiburon.  The memorial will begin at 11:30 a.m..
